SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS

Symptoms of uveitis may be present in one or both eyes. In addition, they may arise gradually or suddenly. Symptoms vary mainly according to the anatomic location of the inflammation.

ANTERIOR UVEITIS

Acute anterior uveitis: pain, redness, light sensitivity, and blurred vision

Chronic anterior uveitis: no symptoms

INTERMEDIATE UVEITIS

Floating dark spots (floaters)
Loss of central vision
Alteration, decrease or loss of vision

POSTERIOR UVEITIS

Stationary dark spots in the field of vision (scotomas)
Loss of central vision
Alteration, decrease or loss of vision
May not produce any symptoms when retinal and/or choroidal lesions do not affect the visual field
