Symptoms and effects:
Spontaneous flashes of light that can vary in color and intensity.
Indicative:
Photopsias occur in all people, especially when exposed to very intense light. Now, when they occur in dark places, they might suggest the following:
Some patients report photopsia before retinal detachment occurs
Inflammation of the optic nerve (intermediate or posterior uveitis)
